Unidentified Stages is proud to announce that Hey! I Heard You’re Black*, a new play by Alicia Whavers is a part of the second annual North 2 Shore Festival presented by Prudential.
What is this play about? Think SNL-meets-theatre. Through a series of vignettes, black couples, strangers, neighbors, and co-workers talk about the intricate realities of their everyday lives. This is an event not to be missed. Get your tickets as seats are going fast! Tickets are free, but donations are definitely welcome!
A Note from the Playwright
Hey! I Heard You’re Black started out as a 10 minute submission to the Columbus Black Theatre Festival. While the play left the stage, the play didn’t leave me. Here we are several years later with a catalogue of monologues and scenes that can be curated to fit your performance needs. While the overall play ranges about 120 minutes if you choose to do every piece, I have chosen several scenes and monologues to make for a nice 90-minute night.
